Reading is so important. For adults and children alike.
Before we did our girls room, I knew I wanted to make a special little reading place for them. They're room isn't very big (10'x11'), especially when you have to fit beds in there :) but we just had to squeeze it in.
I made bean bags that match their bedding, with this pattern here (tutorials are listed in the right column of their website).
Then we just added shelves from Ikea. (I think the shelves are made to hold pictures, but it works for books too!)
The girls love their special little spot! The coolest thing that makes it even more special, is the books we have on the shelves, they were my husband's and my Father-in-law's from when they were little boys.
This is one of my favorite little reading nooks!
So whimsical and magical. Love it!

I have tried to make these bean bag chairs myself and I just can't seem to understand my aperall teacher at all. I'd say I have it almost finished and she'd say it looks fine but I got to the actual putting on the velcro and she said everything is wrong so I took it back apart and don't have anyone who understands how to finish it could you possibly email me with how exactly you did this my email is cheyennehiggins@rocketmail.com thanks.
ReplyDeleteI am having the same issues as Anonymous (july 24). I followed the directions/instructions and I don't have points on the top and bottom of my cover. Can't figure out what I did wrong. Love to finish the project but don't want to cut out any more fabric. Can you help? marlenev@bellsouth.net

DeleteI made these bean bags about 2 years ago, so I don't remember exactly how I made them . I know I followed the pattern from the link in the blog post. I'm sorry that I'm not anymore help than that. I know when I do projects, sometimes things don't turn out exactly how they're supposed to or how I invisioned them, but I improvise and it turns out good enough:) Good luck and I'm sure they'll turn out just great!

figured it out, by following the directions!
DeleteYeah, so happy it worked out. :)
DeleteI am needing some help figuring out the pattern. When it says "Fold fabric selvedge to selvedge. Fold it in 8" on the side" What does that mean? And are the templates the correct size whenever you print them out?
ReplyDeleteI apologize, my email is SuziE_q1323@yahoo.com To the comment above...
DeleteI am really sorry that I don't remember how these were made. All I know is that I used the pattern from that link, but I don't remember if I had to improvise or not. I'm so sorry. There's a reader who commented above, marlenev@bellsouth.net, who was having trouble, but it looks like she figured it out if you want to try emailing her. Good luck and again, I'm sorry about that.
DeleteWhere did you manage to find a 100lb bag of recycled pellets?
ReplyDeleteYou can just google bean bag refill & you'll find many options on where you can purchase them.
DeleteIs that fabric by Basic Grey? It looks JUST like my favorite scrapbooking paper, which makes me HAPPY!!
ReplyDeleteYes it is Basic Grey. Love their paper & fabric!
DeleteHow do you do it? I would love to do this!
ReplyDeleteI made a set of these for my kids for Christmas using this same pattern! They love them! I did adjust the pattern up one inch on each of the sizes in the instructions as that was how mine printed out (9 inches along the bottom instead of 8 and made the circle an extra inch around) - still uses the same amounts of fabric if you cut with care.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric you used - so feminine!
Thanks for sharing your measurements & suggestions. So fun that you made these for Christmas!
DeleteFinished and stuffed the liner today. followed the directions, turned out great. Used 150 liters of bean bag stuffing I found at K-mart.
ReplyDeleteYeah, so glad the directions worked for you. We'd love to see a picture. :)
