Purple Bedroom Wall

We've been wanting to change up our bedroom for awhile now, so we thought we'd start by giving it a paint lift.

The color we decided on is called "Plum Good" and it's a rich color that we both love.

Here is a before picture of our bedroom.
(I guess I didn't have any bigger pictures of our room)

Wall decor

My husband and I felt like our room needed a little more "feeling" & we felt like color would do the trick.  I wanted to add some pattern and texture to the wall with a stencil, but I also wanted to keep the stencil subtle, so I tried to paint the stencil in the same color gloss paint.  As you can see, it didn't work very well and I gave up half way through.  :(

The paint is Lowes' Valspar paint and as one of their signature colors it doesn't come in a high gloss finish.  I wish they'd told me that before mixing the paint twice.  Ughh!  All this was done after a long day of shopping at 4 different stores with 3 hungry children whom I'd already promised that we'd be really quick at Lowes.  I figured I'd just give the semi gloss a shot.   After 3 paint mixings, I had a gallon of Eggshell sheen and a quart of Semi-gloss sheen.  I was too afraid to go straight flat because it's not very easy to wipe and I have children who spend a lot of time in my room. I think this project would have worked a lot better if I'd used flat and semi-gloss paint, or eggshell and high-gloss, but c'est la vie

We kept the same sconces & picture above our bed, but just added a gold frame that I purchased at a garage sale over a year ago.  I contemplated making my own bedding, but when I compared the pricing, it was only a little bit more for this beautiful set.  That sure saved me a ton of time too.  Of course with a new color on the wall, we needed new accent pillows, bedside lamps and curtains.

This is what we the room looks like so far, but there's more to come; like a new headboard, upholstered bench, refurbished nightstand, bookshelves, decor, & possibly more paint.
Our room will be this way for awhile because there are so many other unfinished projects in our house that definitely take priority  :)

When we get more done I'll be sure to share pics.
