I know many people send digital Christmas cards, but I still love sending and receiving Christmas cards in the mail. It's one of our favorite family traditions, to put up and display all the Christmas cards we receive. Just a couple years ago we started taping them all to the front door, so we get to see our Christmas cards all month long. This picture below just makes me happy looking at all these wonderful people.
We usually take our family pictures in the fall so we have brand new family picture to include on our Christmas card. I've used various printing companies over the years to print our Christmas cards and I've usually designed the card myself and uploaded my design with the colors that match our photo.
This year I wanted to save some time and decided to check out the pre-made designs to see if they would look good with our photo. I used the website Minted.com and the whole process was smooth and very quick. I think it only took me about 10 minutes to create the card you see below and they had some really great pre-made designs to choose from.
One of the things I really liked about their website was that you can upload your picture and see it in all the card designs, this way you can compare without having to open seperate tabs.
The other fun thing on their website is that you can choose shapes of your card. Instead of having just straight edges, you can set your Christmas cards apart by choosing different shapes. You can also choose different colors to see if your card will look better in another color. And they're on the same page, so you can change the look of your card without have to go back and forth between pages.
Like most printing companies you also have options on the back or your card with Minted.com. They give you different options for blank, solid, patterned or photos at different prices. I usually like to include a personal message or quote on the back of our Christmas cards.
Another awesome thing I discovered on their website was their envelope addressing. I usually print all my recipient addresses on envelopes using my printer, but this would be way easier to have the company print them for me. It would save me envelopes that my printer messes up on and time! For a limited time Minted.com is providing that with your cards for FREE!! Now that's pretty cool.
You can also get a proof of your card before ordering them all, just to make sure it looks like you want it to. Or you can skip that process and save some time and money.
I usually like to order my Christmas cards at the end of November or the beginning of December so I have enough time to get them out in the mail and to people before Christmas arrives.
Now is a great time to get your Christmas cards ordered because they are currently running a Black Friday promotion at if you miss that they'll be having a Cyber Monday promotion. Click here to see their current promotions.
Plus their site has more then just stationary and cards, go check it out to see all their fabulous products!
