PTR Week 7: The Candy Shop-The Cotton Candy Skirt

Project Toddler Runway is over! Oh my goodness! It's such a relief to be able to say that.
It was a lot of fun! Truly it was. I really enjoyed learning and challenging myself in the brain storming process, in developing better techniques and honing my skills.
Thank you for coming along for the ride and for your support in voting, it was greatly appreciated. It was an honor to be able to compete with such talented individuals and to see how classy they were. Thanks ladies! It was a pleasure and it was fun! And thanks so much to Shwin & Shwin for putting this competition on! I know it took so much work, aside from running your own blog and competing your self, so thank you!
Also, Congrats to the PTR winner Lacey from BrickStory! You can visit her blog and check out all her PTR entries at her blog.
The creative process, although fun and exciting, can be draining. My house has been a mess with all my sewing supplies, my husband has cooked, A LOT, and we have lots of clean laundry, folded, but in baskets.
So here's back to normal life....whatever that is:)
Here is a skirt from my final project that I submitted
The Cotton Candy Skirt:
This skirt is fabulous & I love it!
It was definitely designed after cotton candy--light, fluffy and pink!
Here's the description from the contest. Cotton Candy: This one turned out perfect. This is 3 layers of soft pink nylon chiffon. Each tier is folded under and is consecutively longer and gathered more than its previous tier. The waistband is a pink satin with an elastic and ribbon waistband. The t-shirt is embellished with 2 ruffles around the collar that compliment the ruffles in the skirt. The headband is elastic with a felt layer rose with a soft white pearl center.

Little Girl Skirts

This week I've been working on skirts & it's making me long for spring and warmer weather. Maybe that has something to do with the fabric :)

Today I did a little photo shoot with my daughter and she was so excited to take pictures. So much so that she had to tell everyone she saw today that she had her pictures taken.

Wall Vinyl for the Home

I just wanted to share the vinyl I have in my kitchen.
I went to an at home Vinyl party (can't remember the name of the company) at a friends house and I just fell in love with this saying.

We had this massive blank wall in our dining room that was just crying out to have this 3'+ vinyl on it.

It's dark brown and goes nicely with the colors in our dining room/kitchen.
It's been up in our home for about 4.5 years and now I'm thinking something more needs to go on the wall with it :) We'll see what the hubby says about that.
This could easily be created on either a Cricut or Silhouette, or you could buy one here at Quoted Living.

Mod Podge Words

Today I wanted to share a project I completed a while ago & am now just getting around to taking pictures of :)

These are the words I have sitting on a bookshelf in our home.

This is what they looked like when I bought them--just plain black.
I knew I wanted the color scheme to be bright, so I chose green, orange and yellow. I didn't want to paint them this time, so I searched my stash of scrapbook paper (since I haven't scrapbooked in like 5 years). When I didn't find exactly what I wanted I headed off to the craft store & found these lovely prints.

I placed the word face down on the wrong side of the paper and traced the lettering, then cut it out with my xacto knife.
I have this lovely Xyron machine which is super awesome for making stickers.
I just ran the paper wrong side down through the xyron and voila, the back is all sticky, ready to be adhered to the wood.

After I got all the paper attached, I used my trusty Mod Podge and painted a layer over the top to protect the paper.

And there you have it. Lovely words customized to match my color scheme :) When my colors change someday I can just put new paper over the top and they'll be brand new again.
