Bird Cage Decor

Here is another project I got to help with while I was visiting my sister.

My sister found this lovely bird cage for $5 & even though it looked nice the color it was, she thought it would go well in her living room with a new paint job.

She made it a family project and her girls and I got to paint together.

We used craft paint we found at Walmart.

It was fun working together with my nieces, but they ditched me when they got tired of it :)

This is the final product painted before we added glaze.

We found tinting glaze at her local paint shop & we added brown craft paint to tint the glaze.

Then we rubbed glaze all over the bird cage & wiped it off.

This was my first glaze project & now I seriously want to glaze EVERYTHING. I just love the look!!

Want more info on glazing? Check out The Speckled Dog blog, she's a pro!

My sister's living room is going to be FABULOUS when it's all done!!
Can't wait to see it!
I So wish I could live by her, so we could do even more projects together ;)

  12. I love this! I have a perhaps, silly question. What is a glaze and where can I find one or do you make them? I've seen a couple girls do a glaze and I'm having no luck searching google for it. I'd really love your knowledge :o)

  13. I loved this project so much I had to feature it! Actually the colours inspired a project I did. I made an EAT sign using turquoise and red because I loved how your project looked together. You two sisters do amazing work together. I'm jealous!!! I wish my sister lived closer or else we would be doing the same!
