I can't believe my 5 year old is now 6!
For her birthday I made this magnet board that she can carry around and play with. Many times when she talks to me, she spells out words instead of just saying them. I'm thinking it might just be a stage or it could possibly be because she hears her Dad and I spelling out words all the time. I'm sure you can all relate to "spelling" words out so your kids don't know what you're talking about. Regardless, I ran with that idea and made a little magnet board along with alphabet magnets for her and so far she loves it! I have plans to make The Articles of Faith magnets to help her learn them and I might even do numbers so she can develop her math skills. This is just another fun way for her to enjoy learning!
I found an old frame in our storage, that I think I got at Walmart about 3 years ago for around $3.50. I think it's the same one Creative Momma D used in this post.
After painting the frame, I used the glass from the frame to measure where to cut on a piece of sheet metal and I cut it to fit in the frame. Lucky for me I had sheet metal left over from another magnet board project.
My daughter picked out some really cute fabric & I used that to cover the sheet metal.
After that I put the covered sheet metal in the frame & that's it--done!
This is a super fast project and super easy too!
