Painted & Antique Glazed Picture Frame

I work with the Young Women at my church and there are two that graduated this week, so I had to do something for a graduation gift.

One of the other ladies that also works with the youth told me she saw some pretty wall plaques with some beautiful sayings on them at a local store.
I found what she was referring to and saw that they were $30 & that there was only one.
I figured I could fix that dilemma by making my own, and for a lot less money :)

I found this plastic picture frame at Walmart for $3.00.

I had this turquoise paint on hand that I received from Valspar paint when they were giving away daily samples.
I painted the frame with about 3 coats of paint & let it dry.

I also had clear antiquing glaze that I purchased recently from ACE & had been waiting for an excuse to use.  I mixed some brown paint into my glaze & brushed it all over the frame. Then I used a rag & wiped off some of the glaze.

While I was waiting for it to dry I printed a quote on cardstock to go in the frame.
This beautiful quote is from one of our church leaders & it's from a talk he recently gave, titled "Your Happily Ever After". How beautiful is that title?!

When it was all dry, I assembled the picture frame & voila!

More Hooded Towels

Here are two more hooded towels that I finished this week.

I let my children choose what they wanted on their towels and my son said he wanted a mushroom.
This is as cute as I could make a mushroom look.
The snail is mostly unrecognizable, but oh well :)

On his second towel, he wanted a chameleon lizard and this is from some clip art I found online.
It probably would stand out more if I'd used darker thread, but at least you can kinda tell what it is.
Now, I should be done with hooded towels for awhile!!

Early Birthday Treats

Since this week was the last week of school and my daughter has a birthday in the summer, we were able to take in birthday treats this week.

This is what I was able to come up with very last minute.
It was a crazy day and by the time I got home to make anything it was after 9pm.

I had a box of strawberry cake mix, halloween cupcake wrappers & a jar of cream cheese frosting.

Good thing I have this die cut & cute paper to fix the halloween wrapper problem.
Add a cute tag on a popcicle stick and voila, it's done!

Crayon Monograms

*Post edit: Click here to see my most recent crayon monogram creation.

These are the gifts the kids are taking to their teachers this week for the last day of school.

I found this tutorial online over at Frugal Life Project & have been wanting an excuse to make it for some time now.

Instead of using white paper, we found cardstock in their teachers' favorite colors for the background.
I found a block font I liked in my word processing program on my computer & I printed a large outline of the letter along with their teachers' names (not a huge fan of my handwriting) directly on the colored cardstock.

Home Decor Revamped

Here is another project my sister and I did together.

We were able to go thrift store shopping one day and we found a bunch of great stuff.
We found this cute little plastic drawer box and thought it would be perfect in another color.
I think it was only a dollar or two--score!

Instantly it looked different with a coat of red spray paint.
We didn't even have to be that precise with the spray paint because it looked great with a little brown showing through the paint.

Even though you could see some of the brown through the red, we still thought it would look great with some glaze. We used glaze that was tinted with brown.

And this is what we ended up with.
It goes great with the rest of the decor in the room.
Lovin it!!

Can't wait to have my living room all done!

Baby Burp Cloths

This is what I sewed today...

These are burp cloths that my sister Chelsea showed me how to sew.

I found some uber-cute Michael Miller fabric & they make the cutest burp cloths.

Now, if only I had a precious little one to use them on :)

Check out our Etsy store for more beautiful burp cloths.

Life's Shining Moments

So here it is, the float. Last Friday we officially officially finished--meaning the tear down and all!
Talk about a project!! The parade was 2 weeks ago, and I'm now just posting about it. Life is just like that you know. Anyway, all I'm going to say is, it was fun & now we're done
